Affiliate Marketing Via YouTube

YouTube is the web's second biggest search engine and many people that discover a video search result are likely to go to that result first, especially if they are interested in buying a product. It makes sense if you want to buy a product you want to see how it works and the different features working together. And what better place to see a product demonstration in the comfort of your own home. If you like the product, you can do three things; one, read any extra information that the channel has provided or two, look for the cheapest deal on the internet or check your favourite offline stores for the best price.

If you decide to watch the YouTube video and click on the link to the product in the YouTube video description, you have just participated in an affiliate marketing transaction via youtube. The YouTuber may have been paid for creating the product review video and they may also be permitted to be an affiliate of the product they are promoting.

In some cases the YouTuber may not have been paid for creating and posting the product review video and may have created the video hoping that viewers will watch the video, like the product, read the product description, and buy through their affiliate link. You can usually spot when a YouTuber has been paid to create a product review video. The signs are; they are doing an unboxing of a product before the product has been released to the public, or there is sufficient product brand names featured in the video. Many of these videos are professionally produced and have the correct lighting, video software and the sound is clear. They have not used screen capture software that features secondhand footage of the product and a small video of themselves in the corner.

Not only do you need to have the right video filming set up but an audience is important as well. A product review video is similar to a sponsored post on another social media platform. If you are posting a sponsored post on Twitter or Instagram many sponsored post companies won't even consider your application without an audience of 10K - 20K genuine subscribers. It would be a waste of time and money if the product review is not being aired to a ready made audience.

There are many affiliate networks that accept applications from many would-be affiliates and you can choose a product from their catalogue and apply to promote it. You may not get paid for creating a product review video but if you manage to direct a significant number of buyer from your affiliate link to the merchants site and they buy the product, then you have the possibility of receiving a commission for any purchases.

Start with one product review video and build a channel and an audience and you will soon be set up to securing the gig for doing paid product reviews. No one starts at the top everyone has to work their way up to the top. Gradually you can earn more as you develop your skills. But start with the affiliate network's products, build an audience, earn some commissions, and then when your channel is established it is likely that you will receive an invitation to do a paid product review.

Affiliate marketing via YouTube takes work, time and effort but as you build on these you will be paid more as you progress.
